The Aotearoa Seafoods processing plant enjoys the highest quality rating under external auditor MAF's (Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry) Performance Based Verification (PBV) system.
Aotearoa Seafoods Ltd has its own on-site laboratory, where product standards and quality control systems are constantly monitored. We have in place a Risk Management Programme which aims to identify, control, manage and eliminate or minimise any threats to the safety of our products, and the health of our employees.
All areas of operation and procedures are covered, with separate policies governing areas including food safety, foreign matter, listeria control, cleaning, chemicals, pest control, personal hygiene, protective clothing and health & safety. Our quality assurance manager oversees compliance, with MAF providing regular external audits.
Our quality control standards and procedures are designed to meet the requirements of the Animal Products Act 1999.
Each and every package of mussels processed at Aotearoa Seafoods carries a code which enables us to trace all harvesting and processing details - from the time of harvest, to the final product temperature on leaving our premises.
